The Power of Volunteering

At Rooted Meadows, education is held by a strong and connected community. When parents offer their time and talents, they help create a culture of care, cooperation, and shared responsibility that supports every child.

Children benefit deeply from seeing the adults in their lives working together with purpose and goodwill. This lived example teaches them how community is formed and how meaningful it is to contribute. At the same time, parent involvement strengthens relationships among families and teachers, fostering trust, belonging, and a shared sense of purpose.

Through volunteering, parents help create an environment where children feel supported, known, and valued; and in doing so, they become an essential part of the learning journey.

Family Volunteer Requirements

  • 30 volunteer hours each year for grades 1-8 families

Festivals are a school community effort of many volunteers donating time and supplies. Through these shared experiences, we are reminded that we are active participants in life; connected to one another, to nature, and to the rhythms that shape us all.

Each family signs up at the beginning of each academic year for different festivals to help create this wonderful experience.

Building & Grounds Support

As a small school, we are always grateful for support with ongoing maintenance and development of our property. Sharing gifts and talents in this way helps us all to enjoy all the school has to offer more readily.

  • The grounds need mowed each week May 15 - October 15. While having a single person doing this every week is simple, we recognize that it’s a large undertaking. We would love to set up a rotation between 4 people so that each person is only obligated once a month.

  • Support weeding the garden, flower beds, pruning, etc is always helpful! The children work on these tasks as part of the curriculum, but having volunteer oversight is key to ensuring a cohesive vision and strategy.

  • As a new school, we anticipate ongoing needs for projects while we expand our offerings and enrollment. There may be a need to put up a swing, repair a toilet, conduct seasonal maintenance, etc. If this is a gift or talent you have, we would love your support!

Thank you!
