Festivals
SEASONAL RHYTHM
Observing and becoming aware of nature and of the changing seasons help to convey to children a sense of wonder and joy for the world around them. Throughout history, in all civilizations, there have been rituals and celebrations reflecting nature’s rhythms. These celebrations or festivals reflect our relationship to nature and spirit, and to our life on earth. The annual seasonal festivals of nature and humanity are celebrated in intentional and meaningful ways that help foster wonder, reverence and gratitude. These qualities nourish our capacity to be responsible to the human community. Festivals and celebrations are also simply and importantly a time to come together to have a good time, laugh, smile, and break away from the many pressures and cares of life.
Festivals are a school community effort of many volunteers donating time and supplies. Each family is expected to sign up at the beginning of each academic year for different festivals to help create this wonderful experience. Over time the traditions and events become personalized and unique to our school community bonding us together.
The following are some of the festivals or mini celebrations that we hold at Rooted Meadows School
