Rooted Meadows School Concept
Micro School, Micro Schedule
4.5 Hours Per Day, 4 Days Per Week
Why a Micro School?
A Waldorf-guided micro-school offers a deeply intentional learning environment, where children are truly known. With smaller group sizes and mixed-age learning, children build strong relationships not only with their teachers, but also with one another, developing empathy, leadership, and collaboration across ages. Children learn to communicate with a wide range of peers, resolve conflicts thoughtfully, and take meaningful roles within a close-knit community.
Our experience visiting Waldorf micro schools has shown us how powerfully this model supports academic learning, creativity, and life skills that are often missed in larger settings. Beginning as a micro-school allows us to grow organically, establish a strong school culture, and create a warm, connected foundation that will carry forward as the school grows.
Why Waldorf?
We strive to be a Waldorf school because of the impact we saw on our own children. Learning in a Waldorf school was a different experience - the calm supportive and fun school community, the teacher-child-parent relationship and teamwork, and the holistic academic experience was wonderful.
Their father later reflected, “I knew our kids were really enjoying their Waldorf school, but it didn’t hit me how much until the last day of school when they were devastated they wouldn’t be going to school for a few months. Waldorf education has created a love for learning in them that they didn’t have previously.”
We love the Waldorf method and are honored to do the work necessary to become a fully accredited Waldorf School.
A Schedule That Opens Doors
A 4-5 day school week with 4.5-hour days creates space for what matters most: family, curiosity, and balance. Children learn best when rested and engaged, and this schedule honors how they thrive. Fridays are reserved for family, hobbies, play, or rest; supporting life’s seasons without sacrificing a rich, meaningful education.
4-5 School Days
Monday - Thursday: Daily Block Schedule
Friday - BRANCH Program offerings.
Reduced School Hours
4.5 hours each day
9:00 AM - 1:30 PM
Extended School Year
Extending the year allows more rest and recharge breaks about every 4-6 weeks when a unit block would finish. Creating more opportunities to get out and enjoy all the seasons. It spreads out the travel and vacation time off throughout the year instead feeling a rushed and crammed few summer months. It also reduces retention loss that is typical over the typical long summer break.
Faculty Structure
Waldorf-Trained Teachers: We plan to hire 2 teachers trained and certified at an Accredited Waldorf Institution to provide instruction to combined grades for the main lesson portions of the school day, covering the core subjects.
Speciality Teachers: will hold co-curricular subject class: Eurythmy, Foreign Language, Biodynamics gardening/farming.
Parents and Volunteers: will teach the rotational block classes and the Friday student interest-based extracurricular class or clubs offered though our BRANCH Program.
