Education Rooted in Waldorf Principals, Childhood, Nature, and Community

Our Mission

By embracing the body, mind and soul of each human, grounding in core virtues of character and Steiner's principles applicable to childhood education, we can provide a rich environment that enables children and the community to be a force of connection between humanity, the earth, and themselves.

An excellent academic foundation isn’t enough. To live a whole life, one must learn to be fully human.

Holistic Education

“Of course, we want our children to learn to read and write and do math, but that perspective of education is too narrow… All children have the possibilities of growing in character. So make sure whatever curriculum you use supports that goal of shaping your child’s mind and heart toward what is good and noble.”

Charlotte Mason

  • We craft moral fortitude through stories and habits of excellence.

Our education strongly supports creating a culture of respect, understanding, compassion, appreciation and encouragement for all, so that we can and will contribute and connect to the people around us.

In Waldorf-guided education, stories and topics of studies for different ages were selected to specifically help children identify character traits to emulate, and to relate to the changes the child is experiencing on his/her journey to adulthood such as:

    • seeking independence

    • noticing right from wrong

    • honesty

    • compassion

It is also vital to have focused effort and practice to learn these character traits through simple daily habits. There is a subtle chain of events from:

    • the stories we put in our minds

    • our habits

    • who we become

“Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your actions, they become your habits; watch your habits, they become your character; watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” — Lao Tzu

  • Rooted Meadows places a strong emphasis on gratitude, serving, helping, pitching in, and giving back. These attitudes and habits are what will bring much needed goodness and change in the world.

Students foster classrooms of acceptance through discussions and practices, helping one another in academics rather than competing, caring for younger classes, and class service projects.

Parents’ positive attitude and actions give worthy role models to emulate. Each parent is required to volunteer time helping in classrooms, field trips, fundraisers, and putting on the amazing school festivals.

    Rudolf Steiner reflected by saying:

"A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living."

  • “The seasons are part of us, reminding us that we are bound to natural events and that we are participating in life, not just standing and watching from the sidelines.” — Common Ground

Celebrating the seasons connects people across cultures and traditions while highlighting what we share as human beings. Through these rhythms, children experience the richness of many cultures and develop a sense of connection to one another and to the natural world.

Seasonal festivals are an important part of Waldorf and Waldorf-guided schools, bringing staff, students, and families together to collaborate, celebrate, and create lasting memories. These shared experiences remind us that we are active participants in life, and connected to nature, community, and the rhythms that shape us all.

Why Rooted Meadows?

At Rooted Meadows, children are truly seen, nurtured, and inspired to grow at their own pace. In our small, close-knit community, expert Waldorf teachers guide learning, families play an active role, and every day honors childhood, sparks curiosity, and builds lasting confidence.

We offer an education that protects the magic of childhood, builds academic mastery, and feels like home.

  • Time and time again, research shows that the greatest impact on success academically and in life is quality time, spent with family.

With that in mind, we have designed our school take to cover all necessary academic material within 4.5 hours Monday - Thursday.

We have also designed the Friday BRANCH program to function as an opportunity for children to pursue interests supported by Rooted Meadows parents and local experts.

Our hope is that this schedule readily allows more: family dinners, outdoor excursions, hobbies, reading, and free play in general.

Family connection, play, and peace is important to us and we have designed our school in a way to honor that value while still supporting children as they receive a rigorous and quality education.

Sometimes, you can have it all with a little creativity.

  • Our curriculum is designed with child development at the heart.

We honor the need for play and pre-academic skills during early childhood to best prepare children for academic work starting in the 1st grade.

Through the grades, the content and method are chosen to meet the inner questions and interests of children at each age. In doing this, information feels alive and learning becomes joy-filled and applicable.

  • Our school community is made up of families who are excited to be part of their child’s learning journey and to support one another along the way.

Parents play an active and meaningful role in the life of our school. By sharing their time, talents, and resources, families help create a vibrant, nurturing environment and model generosity and engagement for their children. Together, we ensure our school has what it needs to offer every child our very best.

  • Our micro-school offers a close-knit learning environment where every child is truly known. Teachers build strong relationships with each student and tailor learning to individual strengths, interests, and readiness. This small setting fosters a sense of belonging, confidence, and collaboration rather than competition.

Our mixed-age classrooms support natural, relationship-based learning. Younger students are inspired by older peers, while older students grow through leadership and mentorship. Children progress at their own pace, developing empathy, responsibility, and a deep love of learning within a supportive community.

  • At $7,200 per year, our tuition reflects a deep commitment to making high-quality, relationship-centered education accessible to families in our community.

Families receive the benefits of a small school, individualized attention, and a rich, developmentally aligned learning experience at a fraction of the typical private-school price. We believe this combination of quality, care, and affordability is a rare opportunity; one that offers lasting value for children and families alike.

  • Waldorf-trained faculty learn to meet children academically, socially, and emotionally; designing lessons that are developmentally appropriate, engaging, and responsive to each child. Their work is grounded in careful observation, thoughtful planning, and a deep respect for how children grow and learn over time.

This training is both intellectually rigorous and deeply practical, requiring years of study, mentored classroom experience, and ongoing professional development.

By investing in professionally trained Waldorf educators, we ensure that children are guided by skilled, reflective teachers who bring intention, consistency, and care to every aspect of the school day. These are dedicated professionals whose expertise makes a meaningful difference in a child’s learning experience.
